PIG ROAST SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY JULY 4TH
The Intercourse Fire Company members are gearing for our annual Pig Roast.  There will be dinners available for eat-in or take-out. Available at 10am until sold out. Dinners will include :  A Pork Sandwich / Baked Beans / Coleslaw / Drink / Fruit Cup / Whoopie Pie / Homemade ice cream will also be available.COME JOIN US ! 


 
   
   
Fatal Crash With Entrapment

On Saturday morning, at 8:54 hrs Station 4-4, Rescue 4-8 (Ronks), Ambulance 4-3-1 and 4-3-2 (Gordonville EMS), and Ephrata Medics were dispatched to 3347 Old Phila. Pike for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Unit went en-route and were advised of a 2 vehicle crash with multiple patients trapped and 1 possible DOA. Ambulance 4-3-1 arrived and found 5 patients and one obvious DOA, with 2 patients trapped. Ambulance then set-up EMS Command and requested additional EMS units. Upon arrival, Chief 4-4 established Command 4-4. Firefighters worked for about 20 minutes to extricate the patients. Units were available at 10:57 hrs.


 
   
   
2009 County Convention

On Saturday morning the crew met at the station to head to Quarryville for the 89th Annual Firemen's Convention. Tanker 4-4 got registered, had the finishing touches put on, and was prejudged at the Smith Middle School, then headed off to stage for the parade. The parade, which consisted of about 120 units started shortly after 2 pm, and lasted about an hour and a half. The Tanker came home with a 3rd place trophy. Thanks to the Quarryville Fire Company for hosting the '09 Convention!

Barn Collapse With Injuries

At 13:51 hrs on Thursday afternoon, Station 4-4 and Ambulance 4-3-1 (Gordonville EMS) were dispatched to 3982 East Newport Rd for a public service. Unit went en-route and were advised of a large barn that had collapsed. Upon arrival, Chief 4-4-2 established Command and requested a medic for a patient with difficulty breathing. Later,  Ambulance 4-3-2 and Medic 3 were dispatched for another patient that had jumped from the 2nd floor. Firefighters assisted with patient packaging and secured the scene. Unit were available at 14:39 hrs.


 
   
   
Woods Fire In Salisbury Twp

On Wednesday evening, Station 4-9 (White Horse) and Station 3-2 (Blue Ball) were dispatched to 589 Meeting House Rd for a woods fire. Responding units were advised of a woods and tire fire. Upon arrival Deputy 4-9 assumed command and requested Brush 3-2 to the scene. A few minutes later Command requested 2 additional tankers, which was Tanker 4-4 and 3-6, Engine 4-4-1 was also dispatched and was assigned to establish a fillsite at Meadeville and Sollenburger pond. Firefighters applied foam to the tires and kept the extension into the woods to a minimum. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes.  Photos courtesy of White Horse Fire Co


 
   
   
Water Rescue Class

On Saturday members from Station 4-4, 4-7 (Paradise), 4-3 (Gordonville), and 7-6 (West Hempfield) participated in the Water Rescue & Emergency Response class hosted by the Intercourse Fire Company.  The students had classroom work in the morning and went out to the river in the afternoon, practicing self-rescue techniques, multiple rescuer crossings and throwing throw-bags. Non-injury Crash At New Holland Rd And Rt. 340

On Saturday evening, at 18:38 hrs Station 4-4 and Ambulance 4-3-1(Gordonville EMS) were dispatched to Rt. 340 and New Holland Rd  for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries. Deputy 4-4 arrived and found a 2 vehicle accident with 1 vehicle into the ditch. The patients were evaluated by EMS and refused treatment. Station 4-4 cleared at 19:45 hrs.


 
   
   
Fatal Crash In Leacock Twp

On Sunday evening at 19:04 hrs Station 4-4, Rescue 4-2 (Gap) and EMS were dispatched to 4138 Old Philadelphia Pk for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Deputy 4-4 went en-route and was advised of a vehicle accident with multiple entrapment. Upon arrival, Deputy 4-4 established Command and reported a 2 vehicle crash with 1 patient ejected, several other trapped and 1 DOA. Ambulance 4-3-1 setup EMS Command and triaged the patients. Due to the number of patients and the heavy entrapment Command 4-4 requested a 2nd rescue (Rescue 3-9) and Sky Care to fly, and later the 2nd helicopter. Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched to setup the LZ. All the patients (except the deceased) were extricated in about 45 minutes. 4 patients were transported to a Lancaster City hospital and 2 were flown to Reading.

Busy Day for Station 4-4

Saturday morning at 8:00 hrs, some of the members, along with members from 4-1 (Bird-In-Hand), 4-9 (White Horse), and 5-4 (Lampeter) met at the station for the Pump Opts 1 class, which was taught by Lloyd Henry. The student had classroom work in the morning, and were going over Engine 4-4-1 when they were dispatched to 3735 East Newport Rd for a brush fire. Unit went en-route and were advised of a trash fire that went out of control, 20 ft from the dwelling. Engine 4-4-1 arrived and found a smoke condition behind the house, where a pile of brush and leaves were smoldering.  The fire was under control in less than 10 minutes. The crew returned to the classroom and just at lunchtime Station 4-4 was dispatched to a vehicle accident at Old Phila. Pk and Pond Rd. Chief 4-4 (Diener) arrived and found a 2 vehicle accident with 1 patient complaining of a bump to the head and a bruised arm. The patient was transported to a Lancaster hospital. The crew returned to the station to find out the rest of the students were nice enough to leave some food for the "busy" crew! The rest of the afternoon the students worked on drafting and handline evolutions, where everyone got plenty of hands-on on the pumps. Thanks to Instructor Lloyd and all the members who participated in the class.

2 Alarm Fire In Paradise Twp

Shortly after 23:00 Hrs Station 4-5 (Kinzer), Station 4-7 (Paradise), Truck 4-2 (Gap), and Tanker 4-3 (Gordonville), were dispatched  to 3451 Lincoln Highway East, at Vintage Sale Stables for a building fire. While units went en-route they were advised Chief 4-5 was on the scene with a working fire. Chief 4-5 then established Command and requested 2nd alarm. Station 4-4 was dispatched as part of the 2nd alarm assignment. Tanker 4-4 was in the water shuttle along with 10 other tankers. Engine 4-4-1 set up a fill-site at the Denlinger pond to fill tankers. The Squad reported to the fire scene with manpower to assist with fire suppression and overhaul.
