Fatal Dwelling Fire In Salisbury Township

On Saturday night, at 18:25 hrs Station 4-4 was dispatched to the 200 block of Cambridge Rd to assist Station 4-9 (White Horse) on a dwelling fire. Crews from 4-9 arrived and found a 2-family dwelling with fire on the Alpha-Delta part of the dwelling. Sadly, a deceased victim was found inside the dwelling, another patient with burns was air-lifted by Sky Care to a hospital. Tanker 4-4 was assigned to water supply, as Engine 4-4-1 split crew and was assigned to check for extensions to the 1st and 2nd floor of the main part of the dwelling. Squad 4-4 personnel reported to staging and assisted with salvage and overhaul. Station 4-4 was available at 22:40 hrs.

Station 4-4 Assists 4-7 On Dwelling Fire and Runs A 1st Due Crash

On Sunday, at 11:53 hrs Tanker 4-4 was dispatched to assist 4-7 (Paradise) on a dwelling fire at 3210 Lincoln Hwy East. LCWC advised responding units that a space heater blew up in the attic. Cheif 4-7 arrived and reported smoke showing and requested 2nd alarm. Engine 4-4-1 was then dispatched and was assigned to assist with a fillsite at Denlinger Pond. Station 4-4 cleared the fire call at 12:45 hrs.

At 13:08 hrs Station 4-4 and EMS was dispatched to New Holland Rd and Rt. 340 for a vehicle accident. LCWC advised responding units that a vehicle was on its side leaking gasoline. Crews arrived and disassembled the fuel tank from the vehicle to secure the leak, and applied AFFF foam to the spilled gasoline. Station 4-4 went available at  14:16 hrs.


 
   
   
Vehicle Accident With Entrapment

On Sunday afternoon at 15:56 hrs Station 4-4 and EMS were dispatched to New Holland Rd and Rt. 340 for a vehicle accident with injuries. LCWC advised responding units that an EMT has arrived on the scene and reported 3 patients, 2 of them trapped in 1 vehicle. Rescue 4-2 (Gap) was dispatched to fill out the entrapment assignment. The patient in the over-turned vehicle had self-extricated, so firefighters went to work on the patients in the white car. Crews worked for about 20 minutes to extricate the patients. Station 4-4 was available at 17:00 hrs.


 
   
   
Another One At The Crossroads

On Wednesday evening shortly after 5:00, Station 4-4 was dispatched to New Holland Rd and Rt.340 for spill control after a vehicle accident. Deputy 4-4 arrived and found a 2 vehicle accident with blocking and fluids on the roadway. Firefighters confirmed a non-injury accident.


 
   
   
Several Calls For The Day
Saturday, October 24, 2009

On Saturday morning at 7:30 hrs Station 4-4 and Gordonville EMS were dispatched to Rt. 340 and New Holland Rd for a vehicle accident with injuries. Crews arrived and reported a 2 vehicle accident, 1 blocking the roadway and another in the field. Firefighters mitigated the hazards and assisted EMS with patient care.

At 11:59 hrs Station 4-4 and Rescue 4-8 (Ronks) were dispatched to 3617 Old Philadelphia Pk. for a vehicle accident with entrapment. While en-route, units were advised that Amb. 4-3-1 (Gordonville EMS) was dispatched to that location for an injured person after a horse and buggy accident and arrived to find the patient trapped inside. Firefighters had to cut the buggy apart to extricate the patient. While clearing from the buggy accident, New Holland EMS (3-9) was being dispatched to 3510 Old Phila. Pk. for an unconscious person, Squad 4-4 advised LCWC they had an EMT on board and can respond and assist EMS since the 1st due ambulances were already committed to other calls. Squad 4-4 arrived and started patient care. The Squad went available about 20 minutes later.

IFC Gets 1st Place At The New Holland Firemens Tug-o-war

On Thursday night, some of the Intercourse Fire Company members headed over to the New Holland Fair for the 44th annual Firemen's tug-o-war. The team of 10 guys weighing in at 1940 lbs pulled White Horse Team #1 and Terre Hill on Thursday night, winning both of their pulls. On Saturday night the team met Fivepointville #1, Blue Ball FC and Fivepointville again in the finals. IFC went undefeated in the event.


 
2nd Alarm Barn Fire

On Monday afternoon, at 13:38 hrs, Station 4-4, along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to 90 South New Holland Rd for a barn fire. Chief 4-4 went en-route and advised he was a mile out with heavy smoke showing, and requested 2nd alarm. Crews arrived and encountered heavy fire conditions, with the barn 95% involved. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Martin Mulch was dispatched, for their track-hoe, to assist with overhaul, and to tear the rest of the barn down. Station 4-4 was available at 17:37 hrs.

Storm Brings Lots Of Work To The Intercourse Area

On Tuesday night the area got pounded by high winds, fierce lightening and some rain. At 19:23 hrs Station 4-4 was dispatched to Rt 340 and New Holland Rd for a tree blocking the roadway. With additional reports, Chief 4-4 decided to hold the units in station. While Chief 4-4 was still on the scene, LCWC dispatched the barn fire assignment to 4021 Old Phila. Pk (in the area of the 1st call). LCWC advised Chief 4-4 that they were told the barn had been struck by lightening and they received multiple calls of a working fire. Chief 4-4 reported a fully involved barn and requested 2nd alarm. Crews arrived and were immediately faced with challenges, exposures and a lack of water supply. The driveway was in excess of 2,500 ft long and had to use tankers to shuttle water from the fillsites. Firefighters fought for several hours before the blaze was under control.

Meanwhile, Chief 4-1, Engine 3-1-1 and Squad 4-9 handled a partial barn collapse at 4009 Old Phila. Pk and Engine 3-9-1 handled several tree and wires calls.

2nd Alarm Barn Fire In 4-3's 1st Due

On Friday morning as some of the members were getting ready for our 8th Annual Community Days and Auction, Station 4-3 (Gordonville), 4-7(Paradise), Station 4-4, 4-5 (Kinzer) Truck 4-2 (Gap), Rescue 4-8 (Ronks) and EMS were dispatched for a barn fire, at 54 Old Leacock Rd. Deputy 4-3 arrived and reported a working fire and requested 2nd alarm. Engine 4-4-1 arrived and went interior to assist with fire suppression. Tanker 4-4 set-up a port-a-tank operation at the end of the driveway. The fire was under control in about 45 minutes.
